i mean news on like major earthquakes, typhoons and such events as those.
like if a big quake struck japan, china or spain.

Chosen Answer:

Newspapers and TV. Get this: I am Pakistani-American, so I depend on the Internet for my daily fix of news from home, as the local media cover Pakistan minimally, and that too in a very slanted fashion. I remember before the Internet, the only source of home news I had besides word of mouth by telephone (along with the sky-high phone bills) was a weekly newsletter sent by postal mail from a Pakistani media group by subscription. The problem was that the postal mail took 10 to 15 days to arrive, so the news was not timely, especially news of earthquakes, cyclones, and snowstorms. Today, I get breaking news online from back home even as it is happening!
